Welcome to the documentation for the Email Reports For SureCart plugin by SurelyWP!

Overview

This plugin seamlessly delivers convenient SureCart sales and Google Analytics reports via email on daily, weekly, or monthly schedules, offering concise summaries of essential store sales and performance data.

On this page, you will find all the steps you need to set up and use our plugin. The steps below provide instructions about the installation and setup process, as well as additional resources that may be helpful.

1. Install & Setup SureCart

Our Email Reports For SureCart plugin is a 3rd party addon for SureCart, so having an existing SureCart store with their plugin installed, active, and set up is a prerequisite to using our product.

DISCLOSURE: The link to SureCart is an “affiliate link” which means if you click on the link and purchase anything, we will receive a commission.

2. Download The Plugin From Your Customer Dashboard

  2. Click the “Downloads” tab.
  3. Click on the Email Reports For SureCart file.

NOTE: Some Apple computers automatically extract .zip files, so be sure to disable that feature when downloading the plugin file.

3. Install The Plugin On Your Website

Now you are ready to install the Email Reports For SureCart plugin. Installing our plugin works the same as installing any other WordPress plugin.

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard. This is typically accessed by adding “/wp-admin” to the end of your website’s URL (e.g., www.example.com/wp-admin).

  8. WordPress will now upload and install the plugin from the uploaded file. Once the installation is complete, you will see a success message.
  9. After installation, click the “Activate Plugin” button to activate the plugin.

When you activate the plugin, you will be redirected to an overview screen of the Email Reports For SureCart addon. This is a unified interface for all of our addons, so any additional addon that you install from our SurelyWP brand will also appear in this same interface. You can switch installed plugins at the top.

The first thing to do is get familiar with the options available to you. The overview tab does a great job of this, and some of the things mentioned there will be covered in the steps below.

NOTE: The plugin features will not work until you add the license key in step #4.

4. Add Your License Key

The most important step after installing the plugin is to connect and activate your license key. This is needed to enable the plugin features to work.

  1. Log into your Customer Dashboard on our website.
  2. Click on the “Downloads” tab and then click on the Email Reports For SureCart” download item. You will see the license key here below the download.
  3. Click the “Copy” button to copy the license key to your clipboard.
  4. Go back to your website where you installed the plugin and find the license key settings. To find this screen, look under the SurelyWP menu and click on Email Reports and then click the “License Key” menu link.
  5. Paste the license key into the input field, and click the “Activate” button.

5. Adjust The Settings

This plugin includes various settings to enable and adjust features according to your preference. You can access the settings from the Settings tab on the left side of the plugin interface. Each setting contains a clear label and helpful description to make it easy to understand how to use and explain what it does.

Manage And Add New Email Reports

When you click on the settings tab, you will see the option to add a new discount. If you already have email reports set up on your site, they will display in a list here for you to edit or delete.

Individual Email Report

In the settings for each individual email report, you can set an administrative title to help keep things organized. There is also the option to disable this individual report. This will keep the report saved with all the settings in the list of email reports, but it will not be active.

The settings are organized into sections with headings. We recommended getting familiar with how the plugin works by carefully reading each setting description.

7. Google Analytics Integration

We are excited to not only an incredible amount of custom SureCart data reporting, but also we wanted to take it a step further and integrate with Google Analytics. We have created the necessary steps behind the scenes to create an OAuth authentication, which means we are fully approved by Google to allow you to log in and connect Google Analytics to your account with a very easy interface. To do this, it should be familiar for most people, and very intuitive either way. Just go to the “Google Analytics” tab in the plugin settings and click the “Connect” button.

NOTE: We are still waiting for Google to officially verify the authentication process, so you may see the “Google hasn’t verified this app” notice when connecting. You can choose to ignore it or wait until it is approved to use the Google Analytics integration.

8. Set Up Server-Side Cron Job

To ensure the email reports are sent on schedule, it’s essential to configure a server-side cron job. While WordPress provides its own cron functionality, it’s crucial to understand that relying solely on it may not guarantee the consistent execution required by the nature of our plugin. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of setting up a server-side cron job step-by-step, ensuring that your SureCart Email Reports are generated and delivered reliably according to your preferences.

  1. Access Your Hosting Control Panel: Log in to your hosting control panel provided by your web hosting provider.
  2. Locate Cron Jobs Section: Find the section labeled “Cron Jobs” or “Scheduled Tasks” within your hosting control panel.
  3. Create a New Cron Job: Look for an option to create a new cron job or scheduled task. Click on it to proceed.
  4. Set the Timing: Specify the timing for when you want the cron job to run. Since our SureCart Email Reports plugin requires frequent checks, it’s crucial to set it to run every minute.
  5. Enter the Command: In the command or script field, enter the URL provided for the cron job. This URL should initiate all necessary cron tasks for our plugin. It should look like:{site_url}/wp-json/surelywp_er/v1/fetch-orders/ Replace {site_url} with the actual URL of your SureCart store. This command will trigger the execution of the cron tasks related to fetching orders for the Email Reports feature of your SureCart store.
  6. Save the Cron Job: Once you’ve entered the command and set the timing to run every minute, save the cron job. Some control panels may require you to confirm or finalize the setup.
  7. Verify Setup: After saving the cron job, ensure that it’s set up correctly by checking the cron jobs list in your hosting control panel. Confirm that the newly created cron job appears with the specified timing and command.

By following these steps and considering the specific functionalities of our SureCart plugin, users can effectively set up a server-side cron job to ensure the proper functioning of the email reports feature.

9. View The Changelog

You can keep up to date about new features, improvements, and bug fixes that we release by viewing the plugin changelog. You can access the changelog from the Changelog tab on the left side of the plugin interface.

Whenever we release a plugin update with new features, improvements, or bug fixes, you will automatically get a prompt in your WordPress plugin list that an update is available, with an update now button.
